John DeStefano–10/18/2023

John DeStefano, 97, died October 18, 2023. He was born in Palo Alto, a borough of Pottsville, PA. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and Penn State University. He was employed for 30 years with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board and after retirement he volunteered with AARP as a tax preparer for those in need. 

John was a WWII veteran who served in the United States Army Air Forces as flight engineer aboard the B-24 Liberator. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater Ribbon, and World War II Victory Ribbon.

He enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, family vacations at the Jersey Shore, traveling, and nature.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Louise.

He is survived by his children Joanne Reiley (Tom), David DeStefano (Lee) and Kathy O’Mara (James), his grandchildren Sara Hoffman (Brian), Jim O’Mara, Michael DeStefano (Lauren), Mary O’Mara, Katie DeStefano, and great grandchildren Daniel and Elijah.

Relatives and friends may call between 9:30 am and 10:30 am on Friday, October 27th at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30am.  

Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to either The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to Wissahickon Trails, 12 Morris Rd., PA 19002.
