Ralph J. DiGiondomenico–1/28/2024

Ralph J. DiGiondomenico passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was 78.

Born on August 27, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph and Mary DiGiondomenico and the brother of Dolores (LaMastra) and Ursula (Cray). He was the brother-in-law of Rose (Stowe), Carrie (Brown), and Frances (Patterson).

Ralph was married to his loving wife, Antoinette, for over 31 years. Recently, they had moved back to Pennsylvania after having lived at the Jersey shore for over 22 years upon his retirement from Merck & Co. as a chemist. He also worked as a part-time custodian at both Wildwood Catholic High School and Our Lady of the Angels Church in Cape May Court House, NJ, for over 10 years.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He always preferred being around his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his granddogs. They brought much joy to him.  In keeping with his love for children, and through a donation program sponsored by Merck, Ralph donated blood platelets to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He was very happy and proud that he could do this for a number of years.

Ralph was a graduate of John Bartram High School in Philadelphia and received a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science after proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed and supported all of the Philadelphia sports teams but, most of all, the Phillies. He was an avid fan and was always ready to express his opinions about them and his favorite player, Richie Ashburn. His Catholic faith, his family and friends were very important to him, as well as food and fun! He loved the ocean and, for as long as he was able, was always ready to pick some mussels off the jetties in Stone Harbor or catch some crabs at the bay. Many family members and friends enjoyed the tasty meals resulting from those catches.

Ralph is survived by his loving children: Grace Martin of Harleysville, Lisa Agatone (Mark) of Lansdale, Ralph of Philadelphia, and stepson, Frank Volpe of Lansdale, Grandchildren: Justin (CJ), Allison, Sophia, and Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved first wife Marianne Rose (nee. Esposito) DiGiondomenico and two baby grandchildren, Matthew and Marianne.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:15 am, at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA. His Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private on Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
