Geraldine Josephine Vona–1/9/2024

Geraldine Josephine Vona (nee: Farabella), affectionately known as Gerry, passed away peacefully at the age of 88, surrounded by love and comfort in her Lansdale, PA home on January 9, 2024.

Born on December 9, 1935, in South Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Albert and Agnes Farabella (nee: Finan) and sister of Elvera “Chickie” Gabriel (nee: Farabella), all deceased.

She is survived by her loving husband and lifelong companion Anthony Vona, with whom she shared an incredible 71 years of marriage. Together they nurtured a beautiful family and created cherished memories with their three children, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Gerry’s passion for family and food were legendary. Joining together for Sunday suppers at the Vona’s was an eagerly anticipated tradition, and the delicious homemade gravy and pasta they shared are still fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know them.

In addition to her husband, Gerry is survived by her children, Deborah Johnson (nee: Vona), Anthony Vona, and Michael Vona (Alicia). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Nicole Harahan (Bernard), Danielle Miller (Andrew), Dana Keys (Brian), Brandon Vona, Anthony Vona, Nicholas Vona, Tyler Vona (Kaitlyn), and Madison Wolfinger.

Gerry’s joyful spirit and love for life will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A Funeral Mass is planned for Wednesday, January 17 at 10:30 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with family and friends able to pay their respects starting at 9:30 am. Burial will follow mass at Stanislaus Catholic Burial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Gerry’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Simcox McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale, PA, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
