Howard Mason–5/29/2017

Howard J. Mason, 78 years old, passed away peacefully on May 29th after a long illness. Born in Germantown, Philadelphia on November 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Samuel and Doris (nee Kent) Mason. Howard was the beloved husband of the late Rosalie Mason (nee Cunningham) for over 20 years. He was the devoted father of eight children, stepchildren and adopted children: Howard M. (JR), Patricia M. (Victor), Joanne M. (Ed), Janet I., Judith M. (deceased), Daniel S. (Tina), James M. (Erica) and Lindsay M. (Ash), the loving brother to Joseph M. (deceased), and the caring Pop Pop and Paco to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graduate of North Catholic High School (’58), he worked through his lineman apprenticeship at Henckels & McCoy eventually retiring as a foreman. He worked for IBEW local union 126 from 1959 to 1993, carrying membership for 58 years, working and overseeing high-risk projects such as powering the Walt Whitman Bridge and the Philadelphia International Airport high-speed line.  A hardworking and committed individual, he kept close friendships with those on the job often meeting at “the club” and Elbow Room in Roslyn.

A resident of the Lansdale/Harleysville area for over 35 years, he loved going to classic car shows and taking annual summer vacations to Wildwood, NJ.

He thoroughly enjoyed taking trips to the Florida Keys and Puerto Rico with friends and family. His animated stories, quick wit and presence will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, June 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446 where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Internment Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard’s memory to seasonsfoundation.org/donate/ would be preferred.
