Margaret Nuss—3/2/2017

Margaret A. (Wall) Nuss of Harleysville, PA passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday evening, March 2, surrounded by the love of her daughter, Linda, her son-in-law, Bill,  and her caregiver, Nana, after an extended illness. She was 88 years old.  She was born on October 13, 1928 in Philadelphia, daughter of Kathryn (Craighead) and John V. Wall, and attended North Wales high school.   In 1947 she married F. Gilbert Nuss and celebrated 66 years of marriage before his death in April 2013. They had two children; a daughter, Linda, and a son, Stephen, who preceded her in death in 1973. She lived in the North Penn area for most of her life and was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish.

She enjoyed bicycling, fishing, bird watching, day trips to Atlantic City casinos, walking on the beach and during the last year of her life, sitting on the porch of the home in the Poconos enjoying the wildlife, flowers and birds and going boating on the lake.

Formerly a member of St. Rose of Lima and St. Maria Goretti parishes, she was an active member in many ministries. She was a coordinator of the Prayer Line for the sick and also the monthly novena to St. Peregrine, patron saint of cancer patients.

Peg was a member of the Society of the Little Flower.  She had a lifetime devotion to St. Therese of Lisieux, known as the Little Flower, who had an unshakable confidence in God’s love and whose mission was to live her faith not “in great deeds but with great love.” She set aside the 3:00 p.m. hour every day to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet and the daily rosary to the Blessed Mother.

Peg was a homemaker and her family was always her first priority. In 1968, she began a working career at Merck Sharp & Dohme, and worked for 22 years in the Manufacturing and Research Divisions until she retired in 1990.

Surviving is her daughter, Linda Buchanan McAuliffe and her husband Bill McAuliffe of Lansdale and 3 sisters: Ann Hooley in Texas, Rita Pietrangelo and her husband Carl of Telford, and Kathleen Constabel and her husband, David. A brother, John V. Wall, husband of Terry in Atlanta, Georgia, preceded her in death. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing to be held at the Simcox- McIlvane Funeral Home, 532 East Main Street, Lansdale on Saturday, March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass  at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus  Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale (directly across from the funeral home). Interment will immediately follow the Mass in St. Stanislaus Cemetery adjacent to the church.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, 423 Plymouth Road, Suite 225, Plymouth Meeting, PA, 19462, whose compassionate and loving staff attended to her during the last days of her life.
