Jeanette Hoy—5/1/2023

With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jeanette Hoy. She passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.

Jeanette was born on May 3, 1934, in Clifton Heights to the late Tillie Risko (Hrysko) and Harry Mucha. She lived a fulfilling life, dedicated to her family, friends, and church. Jeanette was a woman with a heart of gold, known for her selflessness, empathy, and unwavering devotion.

Jeanette leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, and she will be deeply missed by her loving children Eileen (Philip) Barndt, Jack (Carol) Hoy, Kathleen Hoy, and Edward (Laura) Hoy and their daughter Susie Hoy (Jason DePina). She was an adored GramNette to Samantha Grosse, Victoria Barndt, John Hoy (Michelle Money), Eddie Hoy, John Luke “Jack” Widman (Elena Garcia), Matt Hoy, Susie Hoy (Jason DePina), Caroline Hoy, and a proud great-grandmother to Kaylee Rose Hoy. Jeanette is also survived by her siblings Eleanor Scott, Joanne Fisher, Paul Mucha, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Hoy, granddaughter, Samantha Grosse, and her siblings Mary Pecko, Lilian Pecko, and Harry Mucha. Although she has left us, Jeanette’s spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Jeanette’s unwavering devotion to her community was evident in her active membership at St. Stanislaus Parish since 1971. As a mother, she generously volunteered her time at her children’s schools, and as a grandmother she spent her weekdays providing childcare. Jeanette and her beloved husband Jack also cherished their winters in Bradenton, Florida. In her leisure time, she was an avid Phillies fan. She loved playing pinochle with her lifelong friends Maxine, Betty and Jane. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling. Her warm smile, kind heart, and gentle spirit endeared her to all who knew her, and her absence will be keenly felt.

A funeral service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at St. Stanislaus Church 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale PA 19446 on May 8. Viewing is 9:30am to 11 am followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church. Please note in memory of Jeanette Hoy. Jeanette’s life may have ended, but her love and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. May she rest in peace.

  1. I have just found this obituary and realize that the Risko family has lost another outstanding cousin. I remember her so well. she was beautiful in every way . I send my sympathy to her family. She and Jack were such a lovely couple. She will be missed.

  2. To the family of “Mrs. Hoy,”
I was her next door neighbor for a few years on Valleybrook Dr. I just learned of her passing moments ago. Please accept my deepest condolences. Mrs. Hoy was a light from the very most moment she knocked on my door and every single time we got to interact with her. She was the warmest and kindest neighbor, and our family will cherish our sweet memories of her. I do remember her heartfelt stories of her beloved Jack, and I hope you all take comfort in her being reunited with him. I truly feel blessed to have known her! She was an extra special lady!

  3. I remember so well when the Hoy Family moved to Lansdale. We were thrilled to have such another good family move to the neighborhood. We were instant friends and loved being around their family. We would carpool together in the morning to St. Stan’s. I always looked up to your beautiful Mother – she was so kind, giving and glamorous! There is comfort knowing she is with your Dad. She will be greatly missed. Love and prayers to the family. Eric & Nina Webb Blay

  4. I shall truly miss my beloved cousin, Jeanette. We were 11am church buddies. Mass will never be the same without you and our special chats after Mass. You had the best birthday ever in heaven reunited with Jack and your loved ones. I can hear you laughing and smiling down on us. God bless you Jeanette. Love you, Mary Lynn Finney

  5. My Mother, Kay Mucha Cebra, was Jeanette’s Aunt. As a child growing up, I remember Jeanette as a beautiful, fashionable woman. Her and Jack made an attractive couple. They came to my parents 50th wedding anniversary party, May 2000, and to my Mother’s funeral, May 2011. Jeanette will be missed by all her family and friends, but is now with her beloved husband Jack.

    • Thank you so very much Kevin. Your kind messages are greatly appreciated. We remember you fondly as well.

  6. Jeanette was a member of the St. Stan’s Senior Club. She sat at my table and she was always smiling! She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She will be missed by all! Hugs!
