Rita Johanna Schott Darcy of Hatfield, PA, passed on at the age of 88 years on April 19, 2022.
Rita was born in 1933 in New York City, New York.
After attending Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood Queens, NYC, she worked her way up to Chief Bookkeeper at the Cunard Line (ship builder of the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth ships) and which merged with the White Star Line (of Titanic notoriety).
Rita married Michael Darcy in New York City in 1974.
Rita was known for her cheerful dispositon. Rita loved archaeology, museums, animals (especially dogs), nature, mysteries, and travel (she traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe).
Rita is survived by her brother Dr. Kenneth Wieland, his wife Dr. Diane Wieland, her niece Dr. Rebekah Wieland, and nephew Sean Wieland.
She is predeceased by her mother Margarethe Meta Johanna Schott, her aunt Henrietta Frida Cousina Puckhaber, uncle Hermann, and her husband Michael J. Darcy (WW2 veteran).
Services will be held on Monday April 25, 2022, at 1 PM, with Reverend Fritz Fowler officiating, at Trinity Lutheran Church 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA. She will be buried at Linden Hill Cemetery in Ridgewood Queens, NYC.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory can be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA.
