Charles C. (Chuck) Hardy Jr.—8/2/2017

Charles (Chuck) Hardy Jr., age 72, of Lansdale, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in his home on August 2nd.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Ragazinsky) and the brother of Ronald (Carol) and the late Richard (Barbara). He was the devoted Uncle to Sharon Andrews (Brian), Diane Muller (Norman), Jennifer Vitale (Chris), and Richard Jr. He was the loving Great Uncle to Anna, Rebecca, Tyler, Gregory, Daniel, and Luke.

Playing clarinet and saxophone, he was a member of the Cardinal Dougherty Band, the Ferko string band and the Fourth Army Band at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio TX. Chuck spent his career working as a Computer Analyst for Unisys.

An avid bowler in the many bowling leagues, in Philadelphia and Lansdale, he spent his time perfecting his bowling skills and achieved several 700 series and even an 800 series. His love of computers and technology led him to the building of electronics such as computers, televisions, and an organ. He had a deep love of family and spent time researching the Hardy family tree extensively.

Attending each and every family picnic, party, event and get together he could be found listening quietly to family stories, or playing yard games. He had a competitive streak in him and loved to win at board games.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, August 9th at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales. PA from 9AM to 11AM. Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made as a memorial to St. Veronica, Independence Mission School (tuition assistance), 3521 N. 6th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

  1. I have fond memories of Chuck back in the 70s when we celebrated Lithuanian Day, August 15 at Aunt Betty’s. We would go to Lakewood Park and Chuck would always get stuck riding with me in the airplanes. He never said a lot but always made me feel safe high above the ground.
