Elizabeth Norma McDowell—2/15/2017

Elizabeth Norma McDowell (nee Dutch) went home to our Lord on February 15th at the age of 94.

She was the true love and partner of Francis James McDowell. Francis (Big Mac) preceded her in death by 25 years but they are surely reunited now. They were married on April 22, 1946 and were blessed with 5 children, Henry McDowell (Arlene Kaufman), Patrick (Gina) McDowell, Francis (MaryLynn) McDowell, Lizabeth McDowell (Ron Boyer) and Jean Najjar (Ray), along with 5 beautiful granddaughters.

She has been a faithful member of St. Stanislaus parish in Lansdale for over 40 years, and before moving here, St. Francis of Assisi in Germantown and St. Stephen’s in Nicetown. She worked for Merck, Sharp and Dohme and was the traffic manager for Display Corporation of America.

She resided at St. Mary’s Center in Lansdale for 17 years, where, prior to her residency, she brought joy to other residents volunteering as a clown to celebrate holidays and birthdays. She cherished her family above all and especially enjoyed creating memorable Christmas celebrations that will always be in our hearts. She often said of her own childhood, “we didn’t have much, but we were happy.” She was one of the great generation and watched her parents make a home for seven children and miscellaneous other family guests with grace — sharing all they had. She lived her life always seeing her glass as full.

She will be truly missed. The viewing and the Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, on Tuesday morning, February 21st: viewing 9:30 am to 11:00 am followed by her Funeral Mass. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Center, 701 Lansdale Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446. Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.
