Michael J. Ward, Sr.—12/29/2017

Michael J. Ward, Sr. a 40 yr. resident of Lansdale – Age 92, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, December 29th, 2017.  He was born in Germantown on March 29, 1925 and grew up in Flourtown. He was the beloved son of William Ward and Catherine (nee Sweeney).  He graduated from Springfield High School in 1943 and was Vice President of his Senior Class.  After high school, he studied theology at Villanova University for two years.

Michael is survived by his three children. His son Michael J Ward, Jr (Kimberly) of Skippack, Pa, Marlena McKeon (Karl) Barto, Pa and Marlisa Ward, North Carolina. His dear and beloved step-daughter Carol Harrison (Russel Roeder) Lansdale, Pa and stepson Jim Kleinman, Sellersville, Pa. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Grace “Sis” (nee Glick) of Lansdale, PA., and his brothers William Ward and Charles Ward.

Mike worked in Domestic & International Sales at Leeds & Northrup in North Wales, PA for 37 years until his retirement in 1987.  He was a stubborn Irishman with a wonderful sense of humor! He was a talented piano and organ player and would often be found at his home playing some tunes on his Baby Grand Piano.  He enjoyed walking five miles every day and chatting with his neighbors along the way.  He was an avid gardener and a big Phillies and Eagles fan. He led a simple life and was a very happy go lucky guy.  He was also a devout catholic and a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale.  He had a wonderful voice and sang in the choir.  In his early years he even made a recording!  Michael was loved dearly by his family and friends.  He will be very much missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Parish – 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, on Friday, January 5th at 11:00 A.M.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the church at 10:00 AM.  A private interment with the family will take place after the Mass at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Philadelphia.  Arrangements made by Simcox-Mcilvaine Funeral Home, Lansdale, PA.
