Annette H. Nichols—8/9/2017

Annette H. Nichols, 96 years old, of Lansdale, PA born 7/11/1921 passed away peacefully on 8/9/2017.
Born in Worcester, MA. she was the first of 7 children born to William A. & Ida A. Reckner.  She is survived by one brother, Joseph Reckner of Lansdale and one sister, Catherine Kauflie of Sebring, FL.  On 2/23/1946 she married William F. Nichols, Sr. who preceeded her in death.  She was the mother of 5 children-Jeanette White (partner – Edward Feighan) of Lansdale, Teresa Kotulka (husband – Stanley) of Spring Mills, PA, William F. Nichols, Jr. of Schuykill Haven, PA. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Orner and Shirley Ann Santaniello, one daughter in-law, Elaine Nichols as well as one grandson, Dustin White.  She had 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She served as one of the first women in the U.S. Marine Corp.  She enlisted on 6/22/1943 when she saw the bill board that said “Uncle Sam wants you.” She served in Pearl Harbor during WW II and she loved playing softball with the U.S. Marine Corp. team. She was honorably discharged on 11/16/1945.
She volunteered for many years at Grand View Hospital and the American Cancer Society and was a member of St. Stanislaus parish since 1955.
She will be very much missed by all of her friends and family.  We will always remember her for her quick wit and funny rhymes and sayings.  She was an inspiration and a blessing to many people.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 51 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, PA. 19446, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Thursday morning, before Mass.  Interment will be in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hilltown.
