Dorothea M. Schierenbeck—10/10/2016

Dorothea M. Schierenbeck passed away peacefully at her home in Gwynedd Valley on Monday evening, October 10, 2016, where she lived for 46 years.  She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Millership and Florence Kemp Millership. Her beloved husband of 49 years, C. Dexter Schierenbeck predeceased her in 2009.

Dorothea lived an abundant life, and was filled with love and complete dedication to her family. She was a gifted watercolorist and studied for many years with her artistic mentor, Dominic DiStefano, AWS. She was a member of the Philadelphia Water Color Club, the Salmagundi Club in NYC, as well as area art leagues. She enjoyed showing her work in venues such as the annual Yellow Springs Art Show, Rittenhouse Square Art Show, Chestnut Hill Art Show and in local Montgomery County galleries.

Dorothea enjoyed travel to Europe and New England whose landscapes often served as subject matter for her many paintings. She also enjoyed cooking, entertaining and most of all the company of her friends, family and devoted four-legged friends.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Lynne D. Manganaro, of Bryn Mawr, and Susan D. Schierenbeck of Penllyn, a sister Miriam M. Jarden and her husband Carroll Rockefeller Jarden of Willow Grove, two grandchildren, Robert D. Manganaro and Grace O. Manganaro also of Bryn Mawr, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Friday, October 14, 2016 11:30 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 708 South Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:30.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothea’s name to Trinity Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.
