David H. Chapman of Lansdale died suddenly on August 19, 2016 at the age of 76. He was born in Norristown on June 18, 1940. He was the son of David H. the III & Eula (Powers) Chapman. The loving devoted husband of Rose E. (Stieger) Chapman. They were married on August 10, 1963 in Flemington, New Jersey. They just celebrated their 53rd Anniversary.

After graduating from North Penn High School in 1958, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served from March 1959 through June 1962. Two weeks ago, he was having his picture taken under his “Home Town Hero’s” poster on Main Street when 3 people riding by thanked him for his service. It was a proud moment.

He was a Truck Driver his entire working career and a longtime member of Teamster Local 384 and 470. His passion was trucks and over the course of 37 years he was continuously employed as a truck driver. He worked for many companies including Lansdale Transportation, Mushroom Transportation and Ford Electronics. In retirement 20 years ago, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of starting his own company: E.M.S Dispatch, Inc. It grew to include three generations, son Eric & granddaughter Melanie.

Besides Trucks his love for Family, Friends and telling a good trucking story over a glass of his favorite brandy. Other things that were dear to his heart included 4th of July Picnics for over 50 years, Celebrating the Christmas Holiday in the city with his Family and enjoying a beverage at McGillin’s Olde Ale House.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Eric (Christine) their children Melanie, Eric Michael, Lukas & Melissa. Son Matthew (Anne Marie) their children Joseph, Angelina, Matthew, Gabriella, Maggie & Jack. Daughter Suzanne Nelson (Trevor) of Arkansas their children Gavin, David & Ian.

Two sisters Alice Leliukas of Guam USA and Grace Bannerman of Brevard, North Carolina.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Lansdale for over 50 years.

Family & Friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, August 23 at Simcox-McILvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446 from 6pm-8pm and another viewing Wednesday, August 24 at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA 19446 from 9am-10am which will be followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am. Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, Pa 19446.

  1. We are so sorry for your loss. Dave was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by so many. I always looked forward to waving to him on his way back to his pew after collection at Saint Stanislaus Church.
