John Dwyer, Sr.—7/31/2016

John E.”Jack” Dwyer, Sr., age 94, of Towamencin Township died July 31, 2016 at Gwynedd Square Nursing and Rehab Center in Upper Gwynedd.

Born September 6, 1921, in Bryn Mawr, and raised in Ardmore, he was the son of the late James P. and Anna M. (nee. McGroary) Dwyer. He has lived in Lansdale since 1954.

He served with the US Army during WW2 in the European Theater and Africa. Mr. Dwyer graduated from West Catholic High School and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Dwyer worked as an accountant at Honeywell, Inc. in Fort Washington.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd where he served as a Eucharist Minister.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 67 years Eleanor G. (nee. Snowden) Dwyer and his four sons John E. Dwyer Jr. and his wife Diane, Joseph P. Dwyer, Sr. and his wife Donna both of Pennsylvania, Thomas Dwyer and his wife Tjien of California and Paul Dwyer and his wife Nancy of Massachusetts. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren and brothers James Dwyer of Maryland and Reverend Thomas Dwyer of Villanova and sister Anne Cochran of Honeybrook, PA. He was preceded by brothers William, Francis, Joseph and Robert Dwyer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 10th at 11AM at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA. 19446 (in Upper Gwynedd Twp), where the family will receive friends Wednesday prior to Mass from 10 to 11AM. Interment private at a later date. For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name to Corpus Christi Church (address above) or Mass Cards would be preferred.
