Vera Kobasa, age 89, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at her home in Lansdale.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Walter Kobasa on February 10, 2015.

Born in Olyphant, PA., she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Mary (Spewak) Dzwonczyk.  Mrs. Kobasa worked as a bookkeeper at Sprouses’s Florist in Lansdale.  She enjoyed volunteering and raising money for many organizations in the North Penn area.

Mrs. Kobasa served as the past President of the North Penn Hospital Auxiliary, past President of the Lansdale Women’s Club and past President of the North Penn Symphony Orchestra as well as being a Board Member of the North Penn United Way.  She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events and concerts and playing cards and games. She played Bridge with her friends several times a month.

Mrs. Kobasa was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia.

Surviving are her two devoted sons; Walter Kobasa, Jr. MD (Beth Ann) of Wilmington, DE., and Steven Kobasa (Diane) of Lansdale, four loving grandchildren Chelsea, Jeffrey, Kati and Drew and brother in law Alex (Helen) and sister in law Anne Kobasa.  In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded by four sisters; Helen Dzwonczyk, Lavona Smoley, Elizabeth Hunyak, and Mary Puza and one brother, Joseph Dzwonczyk and many close in laws.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Sunday Evening, July 26, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM. at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA. 19446 and again Monday Morning, July 27, 2015 from 9 to 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 10:30 PM.  We will then process to Whitemarsh Memorial Park for Vera’s final committal.
