Marion Kobasa—5/18/2015

Marion Kobasa of Telford Marion (Prokipchak) Kobasa, age 91, a resident of Lutheran Community at Telford and formerly a longtime resident of Lansdale, died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Marion was born July 1, 1923, in Olyphant, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Prokipchak. She graduated from Olyphant High School, class of 1941. She was the wife of William Kobasa. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2014, and they were married for almost 67 years.

She was a charter member of the Lansdale Jaycettes and a member of the Lansdale Lioness Auxiliary Club.

She was a member of Presentation of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church where she proudly served as one of the famous “Pierogi Ladies.” She will always be remembered for her strong religious faith. She often recited prayers and lit candles for anyone in need.

Marion retired from Porter Instruments located in Hatfield, PA.

Her greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She constantly reminded her family and friends these loving words, “I love you and don’t you ever forget it!” She is survived by two sons Gerald Kobasa and his wife Geri of Milford, DE, and Gregory Kobasa and his wife Dottie of Telford, grandchildren Laurie Moorman (Travis), Leslie Mergner (Chris), Kristin Vaszily (John), Kevin Kobasa (Ali) and Keath Kobasa (Kristen) and great-grandchildren Emma and Kylie Moorman, Alex and Lila Mergner, Nathan and Zachary Vaszily, and Avery Kobasa. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Alex Kobasa and his wife Helen of Towamencin, her sisters-in-law Anne Kobasa of Towamencin and Vera Kobasa of Lansdale, and her former daughter-in-law Prudence Albright. Marion was preceded in death by her brother John Prokipchak and sisters Virginia Summers, Eleanor Demian, and Joanna McDaniel.

Relatives and friends of Marion Kobasa are invited to a viewing on Friday morning, May 22, from 9 to 10:45 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at the Lutheran Community Chapel, 12 Lutheran Drive, Telford, PA. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
