Loyola M. Wethey—7/17/2014

Loyola M. Wethey (nee Cobley) of Colmar, PA died July 17, 2014 at Abington Memorial Hospital, Lansdale, at the age of 72 due to complications of cancer. She was a lifelong resident of the Lansdale Area.

Loyola was the oldest daughter of the late Sarah L. and Samuel J. Cobley; sister of Samuel Cobley and his wife, Betty, of Davenport, FL; sister of Sarah Snyder and her husband, Jack, of Colmar. Loyola was the beloved mother to her three sons:  Patrick, Mark, and Brian Wethey.

Loy graduated from Little Flower High School, Lansdale.

She began working for Merck & Co. for thirty years. After retiring from Merck, she worked for Lansdale Catholic High School, and the North Penn School District.

Loy enjoyed watching and cheering on all sports- from basketball to golf. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and just spending time chatting with family and friends while “coasting” over a good cup of coffee.

Loyola is survived by her children:  Patrick Wethey and his wife, Annette, of Colmar, PA and their children: Hayley, Samantha, and Patrick; Mark Wethey and his wife, Jean, of Heath, OH and their children: Drew and Dylan; and Brian Wethey, his wife, Suzanne, of Glen Mills, PA and their children: Sean, Allison, Kaitlyn, and Daniel.  She was also especially close to her nieces, Christa Ditlow and Suzanne Cobley, and her nephew, George Cobley.

Loyola was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish, Lansdale.

Friends and family may call from 9:30-11 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Stanislaus Church, 51 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA. 19446 where a Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lansdale Catholic High School, 700 Lansdale Ave, Lansdale, PA. 19446.

  1. We are so sorry about Loy, We don’t get the North Penn Reporter anymore. Please tell the boys the their Mom always loved them more then herself. Our thoughts are with you all, sorry we were not there. Mary Ellen & Clyde Raines
