Frank L. Lagan, III—3/31/2014

Frank L. Lagan, III of Lancaster died March 31st at Willow Valley in Lancaster.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Frank L. Jr. and Minerva Funk Lagan.

He served in the US Navy during WW2 in the Mediterranean and on an ice breaker in Alaska and during the Korean War served at a legal officer in charge with a helicopter training unit in Pensacola, FL.

Mr. Lagan graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters Degree. While at Penn, he also was instrumental in developing and building the first computer known as ENIAC which translates as Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer which to this day is still on display at Penn.
He also was a member of MOA which is a  retired navel officers association.

Before moving to Lancaster, Mr. Lagan had been a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years, Loretta Schriveu Lagan and his daughter Leslie Ann Toolan and her husband, James, Esq., and 5 grandchildren, Kate, Jennifer, Heather, Jim and Brendan, and 4 great grandchildren, Joe, Maede, Nolan and Evelyn. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Lagan, of Lansdale. Mr. Lagan was preceded in death by his brother John Lagan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 12th at 10AM at Visitation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd., Norristown,  PA. 19403-2665 where the family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank’s memory to Visitation B.V.M. Church (address above) would be preferred.
