Marie Walsh Bagnell—12/24/13

Marie Walsh Bagnell, formally of Blue Bell and Lansdale, died peacefully at her home on Christmas Eve.

The Bagnell family resided in Lansdale for nearly 30 years and was members of the Corpus Christi Parish and Lansdale Catholic High School communities. Mrs. Bagnell, a 1957 graduate of Gwynedd-Mercy College, worked at the College for many years and was always fond of the Sisters of Mercy.

Mrs. Bagnell was a devoted wife to her husband Tom, and loving mother to her six children and their spouses and her sixteen grandchildren.  Mrs. Bagnell enjoyed the arts including the orchestra, ballet, and opera, and shared a great fondness for the cultural sights in the city of Philadelphia, most especially her beloved Academy of Music.  She shared these passions with her family and friends and enjoyed performances, visits, and conversations about her interests.  She was dedicated to her family life and always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Mrs. Bagnell also shared her great interest in reading, enjoying the outdoors, travel, music, history, and simple happiness with her family.

Mrs. Bagnell was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Thomas J. Bagnell, Jr. in 1998.  Born in Philadelphia she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Marie (Galvin) Walsh. Mrs. Bagnell is survived by her six loving children; Marie LaPrise (David), Jane Ginsberg (Greg), Thomas Bagnell III (Andrea), James Bagnell, John Bagnell (Mary) and Kathleen Finnegan (John).  She is also survived by her 16 loving grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers Hugh and Jack Walsh and sister Monica O’Dowd.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA. 19446, where the family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 AM.  Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church (address above) or The Academy of Music Restoration Fund (academyofmusic.org).  Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home.
