John H. Johnson, Sr.—11/4/13

John H. Johnson, Sr., age 88, formerly of Upper Gwynedd died November 4th
at Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Johnson.
He was a merchant marine during WW2 and was a survivor of two enemy torpedo attacks.

Mr. Johnson was in sales and was an account executive with the former R. H. Donnelly
Yellow Pages Company.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Upper Gwynedd and was a former member of Germantown Cricket Club, Old York Road Country Club and the Gwynedd Racquet Club. John was an avid tennis and squash player.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cynthia Bartnick Johnson who passed away in January, 2012.

Surviving are daughters Stephanie F. O’Neill and husband John of Ambler and Jill M. Norris and her husband Richard of Los Angeles, CA. and his son John H. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Lindsay of Cockeysville, MD.; also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 3 brothers George Johnson of Ambler, Richard Johnson of Exton and Thomas Johnson of Florida and 2 sisters Mary Walters of Harleysville and Diane Caracciolo of Jacksonville, FL. and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters Margaret Johnson, Josephine Vanderslice, Joan Fones and Nilys Haas and his brother Edward Johnson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, November 8th at 11AM at Corpus Christi Church, 920 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, PA. 19446 (in Upper Gwynedd Twp.) where the family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 to 11AM. Interment Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
