Dad_photoMr. Stanley J. Grabish, 78, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, surrounded by family at his home in North Wales, PA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Stan cherished his small-town roots. He was born on April 21, 1935, in St. Clair, PA to Stanley and Frances (Kaminski) Grabish. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1953 and served in the US Air Force for four years. In 1961, he graduated from Penn State University, which he attended under the GI Bill. Stan’s first career was at the Social Security Administration, where he retired as a public affairs officer; his second was at MetLife Resources, where he served as a financial services representative. A man of deep faith, Stan participated in religious retreats for over 40 years and was an active member of St. Rose of Lima parish. He also enjoyed travel, sports, walking, reading and gardening. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and commander of the St. Clair AMVETS, Post 142. He also served as president of Philadelphia’s Catholic Alumni Club and St. Rose of Lima’s Parish Council. He chaired the finance committee at St. Stanislaus Church and served on the board of St. Rose of Lima’s CYO. He was also associate captain for the Men of Malvern Retreat House. Stan was a compassionate, loyal, brave and spiritual man whose legacy will live in the people he has touched. Survivors include his wife of 46 years Beatrice (Gallagher); ten children, Franny, wife of Ralph Irons; Beatrice, wife of Kevin Hogan; Lisa, wife of Chris Bruder; Kathy, wife of Jamie Jozefowski; Stan Grabish, husband of Beth Brennan; Mike Grabish, husband of Ana Lanceiras; John Grabish, husband of Erin Roache; Mary, wife of Steve Gaffney; Krissy, wife of Alan Birnbrauer; and Bridget, wife of Joe Shanley; 21 grandchildren; two brothers Albert Grabish (Sonia) and Msgr. John Grabish, sister Bernadette Haertsch, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 428 S. Main Street in North Wales, PA. Visitation will begin on Sunday Evening, October 13, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at St. Rose of Lima Church and again Monday Morning, October 14, 2013 from 9:30-11:00 AM before Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Sacred Heart Church, 336 N. 4th St. Allentown, PA 18102 where his brother John has served as the pastor for 12 years. Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.
