Kenneth C. Veit-7/27/2013

VeitKenneth C. Veit, age 72, a lifelong resident of Lansdale, died Saturday, July 27, 2013.  He had been in failing health. He is survived by his beloved wife Carole Johnson Veit of 52 years. Born on February 17, 1941 in Lansdale, he was the son of the late and former Chief of Police of North Wales, Edward W., and Sarah Winton Veit.  He was raised in Lansdale by his stepmother Genevieve Dempsey Veit.  From 1964 to 1973 he was a Police Officer and acting Sergeant with the Upper Merion Police Department.  He then went on to become the Chief of Police of North Wales until he retired from the force in 1999. In his younger years Mr. Veit was an avid soccer player.  His interests included fishing, buying and selling antique toys, and coaching baseball, football and soccer. He was also very handy with cards. He loved spending time with family while vacationing in the Outer Banks and the Jersey Shore. Mr. Veit was a member of the Masonic Charity Lodge in Norristown. In addition to his wife he is survived by his beloved children, Kenneth E. and his wife Dana of Harleysville, Kurtis R. and his wife Lisa also of Harleysville, Kimberly A. Kokser of Merchantville, NJ, Karen Joy Jacobs and her husband, Michael of Colmar, and Kara L. Veit of Rocky Point, NY as well as 10 Granchildren: Courtney, Kara, Kody, Kalley, Kolton, Kasen, Kallensee, Korey, Bill, and Morgan and one brother, Edward W. and his wife Carmela of Parkesville, MD.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11 AM, at the Simcox- McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, PA. 19446 where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 AM on Saturday morning.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Kenneth’s name can be sent to www.woundedwarriorsproject.org or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

  1. I did not know Mr. Veit but I do know his daughter, Kim. She is an outstanding young woman. She is kind, caring, and ambitious. I am sure she has recieved many of these qualities from her parents. Rest in peace, Mr. Veit. May God bless your family.

  5. I did not know Mr. Veit but I do know his daughter, Kim. She is my neighbor and dear friend. Kim is an exceptional young woman. She is smart, caring, loving and pleasure to know. I am sure Mr.and Mrs. Veit played a big part in molding this delightful young woman. I am sorry I never got to know Mr. Veit. May he rest in peace. God bless his family .
